Rsignia, Inc. Supports Crohns Charity

Rsignia proudly supports "Team Bates" in Crohn's Walk for CCFA

COLUMBIA, MD — March, 2011 — Rsignia, Inc., Corporate Headquarters

Rsignia, Inc., through its philanthropy mission of supporting the community and its people, will help support “Team Bates” in the Baltimore Crohn’s Walk for CCFA held at the Inner Harbor on Saturday, June 25th at 5:00 p.m.

Crohn’s disease is a chronic (ongoing) immune disorder that causes inflammation of the digestive or gastrointestinal (GI) tract marked by an abnormal response by the body's immune system.
The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.  It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.  The Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, and finances underdeveloped areas of research.  Educational workshops and symposia, together with their scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field.  The National Institutes of Health has commended the Foundation for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research.”  CCFA’s Mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.  The foundation also offers a wide range of educational programs for patients and health-care professionals, and provides supportive services to help people cope with these chronic intestinal diseases. These programs are supported solely by contributions from the public. Additional programs include summer camps for children affected by the disease.

"This is a horrible disease.  Not only does it affect the GI tract in painful ways but it also has severe emotional consequences due to the nature of the disease, said Darrell Covell, CTO and Founder of Rsignia, Inc.  Children with this disease are especially vulnerable and that is why I feel it is important we take actions that help eliviate the pain and suffering these children endure on a daily basis.  It’s just the right thing to do.”
